![]() ![]() You guys are forgetting how little content actually ships with each Mario Kart. Why? How hard is it to make 16 interesting tracks? Does this really take years? The argument that MK wouldn't be as good with a track editor is based on a stubborn assumption that they couldn't possibly deliver great tracks and an editor. I don't see a good argument why this wouldn't be awesome, Halo 3 and Halo Reach both shipped with great maps on top of the content creation options. ![]() On top of that, you're free to play your own maps with your friends, or browse for a map you might want to download. If you care about your players, that's the way to do it. It was a double-pronged new content attack, where the premium content was not free but the basic content was. This did not hinder their DLC efforts, where you got maps with higher quality art design and elements you couldn't find in forge.Īll of this resulted in a better experience, with Bungie constantly striving to keep the game fresh. On top of that, Bungie would periodically use that editor to create new maps that went into the rotation, later replacing those with more new maps. Halo 3/Reach came with a fairly rudimentary map editor that was fun to fool around in because you could spawn yourself as a player and goof around. ![]()
